Scheckter and Villeneuve, Ferrari 312 T4. Monaco 1979 oil on canvas 45x35cm (18x14") 2005 by John Cheall ba. Jody Scheckter is seen here leading team-mate Gilles Villeneuve into Casino Square with Alan Jones' Williams trying to hang on in third. Jones crashed out and Villeneuve retired with broken transmission but it was not an easy win for Jody, the margin over Clay Regazzoni being only half a second at the finish. Scheckter went on to take the world championship but Ferrari would wait 21 years before winning it again with Michael Schumacher. |

The artist, John Cheall studied painting at degree level and graduated with honours from Loughborough College of Art, England in 1990 (now Loughborough University). He has since worked as a professional landscape painter whose work is exhibited and collected internationally. John favours a realistic approach to painting, fascinated by the transformation of the chaos of the palette into the careful and disciplined balance of the finished painting. He has closely studied and transcribed the old masters being chiefly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, Caspar David Freidrich, John Martin, Jan Vermeer aswell as more recent photorealists such as Richard Estes. His work is mainly concerned with the wild and high places of Britain but as a life-long motorsport fan he enjoys the occasional challenge of rendering brightly coloured Formula 1 subjects. "I've just received the Lewis in Singapore painting and I can't tell you how happy I am with it. It really is absolutely brilliant! I'm seriously impressed! Thanks a lot" ALAN (buyer) "Can i just add that as good as these look on here, they do not do them justice, got the Button/Massa one yesterday and in the flesh its outstanding!!, Really pleased." Oil
paints are superior to all other media in their saturation, permanence
and range of pigments. This results in uniquely colourful and durable
paintings brighter than any printed material. |
